Two books I’ve read recently
Instead of posting separately, I thought I would talk out the two books I’ve read recently. My resolution for this year was to read more (more than I had the year previous) and I’m smashing that target. I didn’t watch a lot of television before hand but since I started reading more, I’ve found I watch it even less. Another benefit is that reading before I go to sleep has seemingly helped combat an issue I had of not being able to fall asleep easily. Win/win! ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid Coming straight off the back of Evelyn Hugo, I was keen to dive into Daisy Jones & The Six. As a Fleetwood Mac fan, the premise immediately caught my attention, and the parallels...
‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo completely lived up to the hype. It’s stylish, emotional, and far more layered than its glossy premise suggests.
‘Yellowface’ by R.F. Kuang
A darkly funny portrait of envy and appropriation that makes you question why it feels so good to watch someone behave so badly.
‘Show Me The Bodies’ by Peter Apps
Peter Apps’ ‘Show Me the Bodies’ is an unflinching, meticulously researched account of one of the most devastating tragedies in recent British history. An important read. It will disturb and enrage you, but it will open your eyes.

The Seven Husbands…
Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo completely lived up to the hype. It’s stylish, emotional, and far more layered than its glossy premise suggests. The story is about a reclusive old Hollywood icon, Evelyn Hugo who recruits ambitious writer Monique Grant under false pretences to write her memoir.

West End Girl
Lily Allen
Lily Allen’s return is a rightfully scathing but beautifully human story about the breakdown of her marriage. This could very well be her magnum opus. It is her first album in seven years and her most direct story to date. Written over ten days, it is a diary-like exploration of a marriage unraveling, the pain of being mistreated and the struggle to claw your way back.

When Close Friends Become Strangers
It’s one of the more subtle griefs we carry: the friendships that slipped through the cracks of busy lives, changing circumstances, and unspoken assumptions that the bond would always be there.
To ‘resolute’ or not ‘resolute’.. is that the question?
Happy New Year! It’s quite a cliche as the end of the year comes around and we all look toward the next and decide to make resolutions. Promises we make to ourselves for all different kinds of reasons and half the time we can’t stick to them. We’ve broken them by the...
