About me

I’m Chris, and I started this website for a couple of reasons.

The first is that I used to create websites and taught myself how to use Photoshop as a teenager. I’d make fan sites for fun and spent my spare time designing and running them. I’ve always enjoyed figuring things out for myself, so I picked up some basic HTML before going on to study graphic design at university. Since I’d been self-taught up until that point, the course felt like starting from scratch—it approached everything in a completely different way. I ended up completing just the first year before switching to a different course (but that’s a story for another time!).

Not long after that, I lost interest in web design altogether. Over the years, the closest I came to using Photoshop was, like many people, editing photos on my phone.

Then one day, I stumbled across some of my old designs. Feeling a bit bored, I thought I’d dive back in and see how much I could remember… Spoiler alert: not much! On impulse, I bought this domain and a small blog hosting package—which brings me to the second reason for starting this site.

I’ve always liked the idea of having a blog, so I thought I’d combine that with a bit of nostalgia for my old website-building days and see where it takes me. I’m not sure what the ‘niche’ of this site will be, so for now it’ll just be me writing some think pieces here and there and maybe just things I’ve gotten up to.

I’ve read plenty of quotes online about how writing can be cathartic and a good form of self-expression. With that in mind—and whether this is read by one person or no one at all—that’s a big part of why I wanted to create my own little space on the internet.

Thank you for visiting!
